Executive Director of Climate & Community Resilience.
Dr. Willow Hallgren brings a powerful combination of scientific expertise, sustainability leadership, and community‑centered vision to Lucia Hope. With more than 15 years of experience across CSIRO, MIT, Monash University, and Griffith University, she has dedicated her career to advancing climate resilience, regenerative agriculture, and sustainable land‑use practices that empower vulnerable communities and foster long‑term stability. Her work bridges rigorous research with practical solutions, ensuring that science directly informs community empowerment and policy innovation. As Executive Director of Climate & Community Resilience, Dr. Hallgren guides initiatives that integrate environmental stewardship, housing sustainability, and community empowerment. She leads climate‑risk assessments, supports regenerative agriculture programs, and develops strategies that strengthen resilience for women, children, and families. Her contributions include major adaptation projects in the Pacific Islands, ecosystem‑based livelihood programs, and national decision‑support tools such as CSIRO’s My Climate CoPilot. She has also contributed to the Biodiversity and Climate Change Virtual Laboratory, advancing national capacity for climate‑risk modeling and adaptation planning. Dr. Hallgren’s gift lies in her ability to balance scientific rigor with accessibility and mentorship. Whether teaching at Australian universities, supervising PhD students, advising policymakers, or writing for the Byron Shire Echo, she brings integrity, clarity, and inspiration to her work. Ara Norwood – Executive Director of Leadership, Strategy & External Relations

Ara Norwood brings decades of global leadership experience to the Lucia Hope Board of Directors. As Managing Partner of Leadership Development Systems, Ara has helped individuals, teams, and organizations achieve breakthrough results through strategic coaching, innovation, and execution.

A professional speaker and seminar leader, Ara has trained thousands of professionals across 50 countries, inspiring audiences with his expertise in leadership, negotiation, time management, and critical thinking. His client list includes world‑renowned organizations such as Intel Corporation, Boeing Aerospace, Nestlé, Northrop Grumman, Marriott Corporation, and the Los Angeles Times to name a few.

Ara’s academic contributions are equally distinguished. He serves as an Adjunct Professor of Business at College of the Canyons, where he is the most‑rated professor on campus, and also teaches at Scottsdale Community College and Phoenix Gateway College. He was personally mentored by Stephen R. Covey, author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and studied management under Peter Drucker at Claremont Graduate University.

In his role at Lucia Hope, Ara provides strategic oversight in three critical areas:

  • Leadership & Strategy – guiding phased implementation and long‑term vision.

  • External Relations – representing Lucia Hope to philanthropists, county officials, and community partners.

  • Governance & Execution – ensuring sustainable practices and effective organizational growth.
